McIlroy’s 21st Career Victory Puts Him in Pole Position for Open Championship

Rory McIlroy birdied the last two holes to win the Genesis Scottish Open, his first victory on Scottish soil and a major boost ahead of the final major of the year. McIlroy was 1 shot behind Robert MacIntyre when he played the 17th hole, but he hit a beautiful tee shot to set up a birdie putt. He then hit a 2-iron into the wind on the 18th hole to 10 feet for another birdie.

The victory was a major upset, as McIlroy had not won a tournament since the Dubai Desert Classic in January. However, he has been playing some of the best golf of his career in recent weeks, and he showed that he is still one of the best players in the world.

McIlroy’s victory was also a major boost for his confidence ahead of the 2023 Open Championship, which will be held at St. Andrews in July. McIlroy has never won the Open Championship, but he has said that he wants to win it more than any other tournament.

This victory will give McIlroy a lot of confidence heading into the Open Championship, and he will be one of the favorites to win.
